If you become dizzy while usingcleaning solvent, immediately get fresh air and medical help. If solventcontacts eyes, immediately wash your eyes with water and get medicalaid.. Compressed air used for cleaning purposes should never exceed 30 psi(207 kPa). Use only effective chip guarding and personal protectiveequipment (goggIes/shield, gloves, etc.), Failure to follow this warningmay result in injury to personnel.Clean all parts with dry cleaning solvent, Dry with compressed air.Inspect upper pitman shaft bearing and side cover. Replace bearing if needles do not rotatefreely. Replace side cover if bearing surfaces are scored,Inspect pitman shaft and adjuster screw for excessive wear or damage. Replace if worn ordamaged or if adjuster screw is not free to turn.Inspect worm gear, rack piston, and all balls for wear or damage, Replace worm gear, rackpiston, and balls as an assembly if worn or damaged.Inspect rack piston ball return guide halves for wear or damage, Replace if worn or damaged.Inspect adjuster plug threads, spacer, races, and bearings for wear or damage. Replace ifworn or damaged.Inspect stub shaft, spool valve, andvalve assembly for wear or damage.Replace valve assembly, spool valve,and stub shaft as an assembly if wornor damaged.Inspect housingReplace if wornc .ASSEMBLY for wear or damage.or damaged.1 .Place housing (7) in a soft-jawed visewith side cover opening facing up.2 .Using a 3/8 in. drift punch and smallhammer, carefully tap new checkvalve (46) into housing (7).TA504918-22
