Remove fuel tank shield.Disconnect ground wire (17) from top of frame on left of truck.NOTE2 nuts (20) function as spacers for 2 strap assembliesnot be removed from strap assemblies.Discard starwasher.(24) and shouldUse an assistant and provide7-15.Remove 2 nuts (18), wiring harnesstabs, and washers (19) from 2 strapassemblies (24). Remove strapassemblies through frame.Remove 2 insulators (23).Loosen clamp (48) and disconnect fillhose (47) from fill pipe assembly(30) .Loosen clamp (31) and remove venthose (32) from fill pipe assembly(30) .Remove screw (39) and clip (41).Lower fuel tank (26) approximately6 in. (15.2 cm) to gain access to 2sending unit hoses (37) and sendingunit drain hose (45).Remove sending unit wire (29) fromsending unit (15).Loosen 2 clamps (38) and remove 2sending unit hoses (37) from pipesleading to front of truck.NOTEWhen fuel tank (26) is removed,the following hoses and pipes areremoved with it:sending unitdrain hose (45) and drain pipe(40), 2 sending unit hoses (37),fuel tank fill hose (47), fuel tankvent pipe (33), and vent hoses (32and 35).Remove fuel tank (26).suitable support when performing stepsTA497863-26
