Direct support
a. Removal
1.
Remove four capscrews (2) and retainers (3) holding rocker arm and shaft assemblies (4) to cylinder
head (5).
NOTE
Tag rocker arm and shaft assemblies for assembly.
2.
Remove two rocker arm and shaft assemblies (4).
NOTE
Tops of pushrods are hardened and must be tagged for assembly.
3.
Remove eight pushrods (1).
b. Installation
CAUTION
Marked ends of pushrods must point up when installed or engine damage may result.
1.
Install eight pushrods (1) in proper location with marked ends of pushrods (1) up. Make sure pushrods
(1) properly seat in lifters.
2.
Install two rocker arm and shaft assemblies (4) on cylinder head (5). Make sure pushrods (1) properly
seat in rocker arms (4).
3.
Secure rocker arm and shaft assemblies (4) with four retainers (3) and capscrews (2).
4.
Tighten capscrews (2) to 41 lb-ft (56 N m).
FOLLOW-ON TASK: Install left or right rocker arm cover (para. 3-11 or 3-12).
