Note letters for installation alinement, If side bearing caps are notstamped, mark side bearings caps and axle housing before removal.3. Remove 4 bolts (4) and 2 side bearingcaps (3).4 .Position axle housing spreader (5) withtool dowels fitted into recesses in axlehousing. Install dial indicator (6) fromedge of axle housing to opposite edgeof axle housing. Ensure that dialindicatoris preloaded. Set dialindicator to “0, ”CAUTIONAxle housing should not be spreadmore than 0.015 in. (0.381 mm),Failure to follow this caution maycause damage and permanentdistortion to axle housing.5 .Spread axle housing to 0.015 in.(0.381 mm). Remove dial indicator(6) .Change 16-103.1
