Procedure
a. Inspect fuel tank for leaks. Inspect all
attaching hoses for wear, cracks, and
splits.
b. Inspect all fuel lines for leaks, loose
connections, and crimps.
Inspect spring U bolts for mounting se-
curity. Tighten loose U bolt nuts to 40
ft-lb (54 N.m) in an X pattern. Tighten
again in same pattern to 150 ft-lb (203
N.m) for front springs and to 145 ft-lbs for
rear springs.
a. Inspect body, frame, and crossmem-
bers for rust-through, discolored sur-
face, blistered paint, surface separation,
or other evidence of corrosion damage.
If any corrosion damage exists, prepare
corroded surfaces IAW TM 9-247, and
treat surface IAW TB 43-0213.
b. Inspect trucks main frame rails for
cracks, breaks, and bends.
c. Inspect crossmembers for breaks,
bends, and loose or missing rivets or
bolts
d. Inspect body mounts and wheel
housings for security and damage.
e. For M1009 with additional engine
mounting holes, inspect for cracks at ad-
ditional engine mounting holes.
f. For all except M1009, inspect cargo
body mounting bolts for looseness. If
loose, tighten to 50 ft-lbs (68 N.m).
Not Mission
Capable If:
a. Any Class Ill fuel
