(f) Using a hacksaw, carefully cut out marked area on right (passenger) side of console, making sure to

(h) Using a hacksaw, carefully cut out marked area on floorplate. (figure 2). Reinstall floorplate using
existing 18 screws.
(i) Install and tighten 3/8 inch or 'V' size drill bit in drill. (figure 3).
(j) Use a depth gauge or fabricate a sleeve from fuel line hose or equivalent, so that only 1/2 inch of the
drill bit is visible from the end of the sleeve. (figure 3).
CAUTION
Use a depth gauge (sleeve) over the drill bit when drilling holes in the si de
panels to avoid puncturing the fuel tank.
Use cooling fluid while drilling holes.
(2) Drilling Crew Compartment Holes for Installation of Seat Belts.
(a) Using bracket 12370472-1 as a template, place against the crew compartment rear wall and the
passenger's side panel.
(b) Using a punch, ball peen hammer and the drill with the depth gauge (sleeve), scribe and drill a 3/8
inch hole in the passenger's side panel at the bottom forward hole "A". (figure 4).
(c) Secure the bracket temporarily to side panel, using MS90728-62 screw and MS51943-35 nut, finger
(d) Locate, measure and drill a 1/2 inch hole "D" 7-3/4 inches from the rear wall of the crew
(e) Remove screw and nut from bracket. Remove bracket and clean debris off of bracket, floor and
areas where holes were drilled.
(f) Using RTV (adhesive), NSN 8040-00-701-9546, apply a 1/4 inch bead around each of the outer
bracket holes. When properly installed, the RTV is between the bracket and sidewall. This will ensure a water tight seal
during water operations.
(g) Install outboard seat belt to 12370472-1 bracket using MS90728-110 screw and MS5194339, finger
(h) Using soldier #2 install bracket 12370472-1 using three MS90728-62 screws, three MS27183-14
washers and three MS51943-35 nuts. Tighten screws 40-45 lb. ft. (figure 5)
